Sorry DG I don't think the myth's are coming true. But I do believe that ancient Greeks made things in keeping with the myths.

Re: Greek myths come to life
that would be a twist if the myths actualy happened, and we just didnt noticed it. like for an example: when zues or posideon got mad, we all of the sudden had the earthquake in Haiti and Chile n' a tsunami in Japan.

Re: Myths come to life
i think the myth of the labrinyth was just an exaggeration based on the complicated "maze" of the palace at knossos. a visitor probably made it seem like that there was a maze underground.

Could be cause creatians were very weird civilization and plus they had lots of money so I suppose that they could have done anything back then.

Re: Greek myths come to life
true.............like in rick's version, they go underground and the labyrinth could only be found in certain places. would that mean that the king would've made it secret?

Re: Greek myths come to life
*pokes this thread back to original idea*
The fact is a lot of Greek mythology is built around real characters and places which were then with the use of hyperbole made to be much more mysterious and given divine ancestry immortalising them in legend. It's probable that there was a man named Heracles who was famous for one reason or the other, perhaps he was some legendary hunter and then this was exaggerated out of proportion saying he was the Son of Zeus and that was why he was such a good hunter.
Simply put: We don't actually know. But we may unearth more evidence that events such as the Trojan war actually happened, perhaps as a small town but with a few hundred warriors on each side rather than thousands.

Re: Greek myths come to life
yea like say this:
Greek mythology (especially) is like some dream time. The 'gods' were once there, but you think that their presence made things come to be. Say this, if you know what the Aborigine dream time is, then this would be a great analogy. The culture ties in with the nature and 'time', so therefore, it could've been true at one point to the culture people. Then as the generations go, other non-believers make up more things. What Rick did is a whole different thing. He keeps the strength of the mythology alive and ties it in with modern to make it more sensible. So as long as you COULD believe the tying in, then its real. As in a different perspective, the different nature epics shows the "God's emotions". This is another explanation for the mythology.

They were more innocent back then, more in harmony with nature, that's probably why they created individual figures to represent them so they could worship them and possibly get even more in tune with nature.

Re: Greek myths come to life
exactly--
like Rick said; if the gods were real, it would be scary. like unexpected things happen and when the gods get tempered, it causes bad things. so you always have to watch your step. and it would also decide your fate and destiny for you, so it wouldn't be like you're controling your life.

It'd be scary if your whole life had been decided for you the moment you were born.
