Great movies besides Lightning Thief
First topic message reminder :
ok so almost everyone has probably seen The lightning Thief by now. Some other movies that you may suggest can be posted under this topic. **We would appreciate it if you also post what it is about (a plot or a summary) and the rating for it.(PG, G, PG-13...)
Here are some great movies I've seen:
Avatar: rated PG-13
When his brother is killed in a robbery, paraplegic
Marine Jake Sully decides to take his place in a mission on the distant
world of Pandora. There he learns of greedy corporate figurehead Parker
Selfridge's intentions of driving off the native humanoid "Na'vi" in
order to mine for the precious material scattered throughout their rich
woodland. In exchange for the spinal surgery that will fix his legs,
Jake gathers intel for the cooperating military unit spearheaded by
gung-ho Colonel Quaritch, while simultaneously attempting to infiltrate
the Na'vi people with the use of an "avatar" identity. While Jake
begins to bond with the native tribe and quickly falls in love with the
beautiful alien Neytiri, the restless Colonel moves forward with his
ruthless extermination tactics, forcing the soldier to take a stand -
and fight back in an epic battle for the fate of Pandora.
The Blind Side: Rated PG-13
"The Blind Side" depicts the story of Michael Oher, a homeless
African-American youngster from a broken home, taken in by the Touhys,
a well-to-do white family who help him fulfill his potential. At the
same time, Oher's presence in the Touhys' lives leads them to some
insightful self-discoveries of their own. Living in his new
environment, the teen faces a completely different set of challenges to
overcome. As a football player and student, Oher works hard and, with
the help of his coaches and adopted family, becomes an All-American
offensive left tackle.
The Spy Next Door: rated PG
Bob Ho, a Chinese spy working with the CIA to stop a man named Poldark.
He's been posing as an importer and has been dating his neighbor,
Gillian, a single mother with 3 children. When Bob captures Poldark, he
retires from the spy game. He wants to make a commitment to Gillian but
her children are not exactly warming up to him. When Gillian has to go
out of town Bob offers to take care of the kids while she's away, which
proves to be no easy task. At the same time, Poldark somehow escapes.
It's apparent that some in the Agency helped him. At the same time
Colton one of Bob's associates at the CIA asks him to look at something
that Poldark had on him that appears to encrypted, hoping he can crack
it.When the children break into his home to see what they can find out
about him, they find the file and download it. And when they try to
open it, Poldark tracks it down and sends his people to take care of
Ho. Bob manages to deal with them and then takes the children and goes
on the run.
2012: rated PG-13
When the geologist Dr. Adrian Helmsley and his team discover that the
core of Earth is heating due to solar radiation, he advises the North
American President about his findings. The American Govern collects
money from the worldwide leaders to build arks to save them with
necessary people to rebuild civilization. Meanwhile, the unsuccessful
writer Jackson Curtis discloses that the world is near to end and tries
to save his son and his daughter from the tragic end.

If you haven't seen the Blindside, get it and see it. What a testiment to every persons potential when someone cares and encourages you.
It ranks with RADIO, Remember the Titans, and others I just can't think right now.

Re: Great movies besides Lightning Thief
Still not watched the PJO movie, don't want to ruin my imagination .
The Descent 2 is really good. Pretty sure it's an 18 (dunno what you call it in America. R or something?). I'm not gonna put the plot because I know alot of people on this website are under 18 and i'm not sure it would really go with the rules :/

yeah, but you should support PJO, i don't have a problem with you downloading other movies just PJO, cause the more box office receipts it gets the better chance of SOM getting turned into a movie, and possibly a bigger production than the lightning thief.

The lord of the rings triology movies were so awesome and did such a good job of trying to stay faithful to the books. I can't wait for their production of the Hobbit which is due out in a year or so.

Hmm saw Clash of the Titans yesterday.. not the most spectacular film and I am very cynical knowing Greek mythology as well as I do..
The amount of stuff they got wrong... Io for a start..
Love Pirates of the Caribbean! And I'll agree with the previous few that The Hobbit will be a great film.

Yeah, but i don't know what's so attracting about it. I mean it certainly doesn't have any special effects that are dazzling or a parfait script.
