Percy chosing the moral of demigods of imortality for his personal gain is very symbolic, and it a great theme of the book. If Percy chose imortality, then It would have destroyed the books for me. Besides, enstead of doing the traditional fary tale like ending, Rick Riordan gave the plotline a twist.

i would never think percy would want to become immortal. hes likes annabeth, so if he was made immortal, it would have ruined the book
